This false teaching says the Church (those believers alive today) will be “raptured” (caught up in the air) to be with Christ, while unbelievers are left behind here on Earth, to face a “7-year great tribulation” period, where the “The Antichrist” person will lead the world against Christ in the Battle of Armageddon, etc.
There is not a shred of biblical support for this “theory”. This theory is enormously popular and widespread today, and it is emanating in blaring volume 24/7/365 from the pulpits of nearly every so called “Christian” church today! (See also the following four false teachings, which are tied intimately with this one, proving once again, where there is one false teaching, there almost always are others as well.)
The only “rapture” Scripture talks about is in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, where it describes events happening at the end of time, when the Lord Jesus appears in the sky with all his angels in flaming fire on the Great Day of Judgment. On that day, those who are born again and abiding in Christ who are alive at that time will be caught up to meet the Lord Jesus in the air, after the dead in Christ were raised first. That’s it. After this comes judgment.
So, if you not sharing the gospel message with your family, friends and co-workers because you are counting on them to finally getting serious about all this “Jesus stuff” when they see you “raptured”, you are horribly misguided. This false teaching leads many to procrastinate and delay in sharing the gospel with others (even their own loved ones), because they think those people will have “more time” after the “rapture,” and those people will then come to believe. It will not work that way, there will be NO MORE TIME for those to come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ after the “rapture”. This false teaching is entirely Satanic in its nature.
