1.3 Science vs. the Bible

(or Creation vs. Evolution)

Let God be found true, though every man be found a liar. – Romans 3:4

You Have Been Brainwashed. Before we can continue further, we must deal with some of the false teachings of man which are masquerading as “science”– for many people are mistakenly under the impression that science has disproven the Bible because that is what they have been taught and heard their entire life. This claim has become a deafening onslaught of propaganda and brainwashing (and that’s exactly what it is!), repeated often and continuously, causing many to doubt the Bible, and in particular, to doubt the very first book of the Bible called Genesis, and even more specifically, the very first sentence(s) of Genesis.

However, nothing could be further from the truth. The reality is that just the opposite is actually true – every advancement and discovery in science (and in other fields such as archaeology) has, in fact, served to further prove that the Bible is indeed true! It is sad today to see the brainwashing that is done since the time we are wee infants in the educational system. We are brainwashed to be prejudiced against God from our earliest cognizant development moments and educational levels. Man sure can be a strange and illogical creature; for he will endlessly chase after myths and nonsense like looking for the mythical “Fountain of Youth” or trying to find the secret to eternal life from science when all he has to do is look to God who gives eternal life freely to all who seek Him!

What you need to realize is that the earth is in the middle of a raging war. Now I’m not talking about the endless wars waged by man which cause so much suffering, but we are in a spiritual war with the forces of God and good on one side and evil on the other side (led by Satan, his evil spirits, and men who do his work): “for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Please understand that this war is not a physical war fought with guns and knives and swords, but a spiritual war fought with the tools outlined in Scripture (lies, false teachings, and deceptions, but also prayer). Please do not be deceived, these spiritual forces of darkness and evil are very real even though you cannot see them, and they are firmly set against you in spiritual warfare trying to get you to end in eternal death – for they oppose all that is good and of God. They do not want you to obtain eternal life!

Their very first line of defense is to get you to doubt the Bible! They know that if they stop you at that point, you won’t go any further! One major retailer even placed their Bibles in the fiction section of books – I kid you not! That’s how determined they are to convince you that the Bible is not true. The second greatest weapon they use against you is false teachings – both from the secular God-denying world and also from within the fake so-called “Christian” churches.

Friend, please realize that all your life you have been the victim of anti-God brainwashing, propaganda, and lies/distractions of man; they are designed to lead you away from God, away from Christ, and away from eternal life! The knowledge of the truth given in Scripture, which I give to you in this book, is essential in countering the false teachings. That is why I’m so adamant in this book about calling out and identifying these false teachings for you.

Many of these false teachings masquerade as “science” and “theories” of man, but which are, in fact, fake science. You are told that these “theories” are true and proven by scientifically measured facts when they are instead mere illusions and deceptions of man brought to you by the secular world and its institutions. For example, you have been taught, and very likely believe, that all of the following are true and established “facts” of science:

• Doesn’t evolution disprove the Bible? (or how can the seven (7) literal days of creation in the book of Genesis possibly be true?)
• What about the dinosaurs? Don’t they disprove the Bible? (and didn’t an asteroid kill them off millions of years ago?)
• Don’t fossils prove millions of years and disprove the Bible?
• Doesn’t carbon dating prove millions of years and disprove the Bible?
• Don’t tree growth rings prove millions of years and disprove the Bible?
• Don’t erosion prove millions of years and disprove the Bible?
• Doesn’t natural selection disprove the Bible?
• Doesn’t science prove that there were many “ice ages” over millions of years and disprove the Bible?
• Doesn’t light red-shift prove millions of years and disprove the Bible?
• Don’t animals having sharp teeth disprove the Bible?
• Doesn’t the “Big-Bang Theory” disprove the Bible?

However, the answer to these and many other commonly accepted (without challenge) “scientific” questions is a resounding: no! In particular regarding evolution, by their very own admission, evolutionary “scientists” acknowledge and admit that their own “theory” cannot even explain where life first came from! Only the Bible gives us the answer. Nonetheless, the lies and cries of “millions of years” continue to emanate loudly and often in blaring volume trying to drown out the truth of the Bible, so you must continually be on guard for it.

As you see from the headline verse to this chapter, the truth is actually opposite to what man claims; in fact, the truth (and rule) is that if something man says disagrees with or contradicts the Bible, then it is man who is wrong, not the Bible! While science can help us understand the physical world through its theories and measurements, it tells us absolutely nothing whatsoever about the spiritual world, about God, angels, heaven, and hell, or even life and death. Only the Bible tells us what is truth in such matters.

CREATION VS. EVOLUTION

One teaching, in particular, the “Theory of Evolution” (along with its attendant theories of “millions/billions of years” for earth history), is so widespread, popular, believed by many, and shouted from the rooftops in staggering volume day and night from every single media outlet on the planet that you have been exposed to this teaching since you were an infant and may not even realize it is just a “theory” of man! Please note that it is called the “Theory” of Evolution, not the “Facts” of Evolution! That’s right, it’s just a “theory” of man, although they try to pass it off as fact, as hard science, when it is nothing of the sort. This fake science is front and center as you encounter these first chapters on God’s creation; in effect, the subject of science vs. the Bible is commonly manifest as the particular argument of creation vs. evolution.

I really do know and empathize with what you’re experiencing if you doubt there is a God and that His initial Creation was good, pure, without sin, suffering, and death. As a scientist myself (physics), I also struggled mightily with these questions about evolution, the age of the earth, etc. – how could it all be possibly created by a God in a mere literal seven (7) days? How could all the “facts” (or so I was told) of evolution and millions of years be wrong? I had to sort through hundreds of my own questions and doubts on these matters before I could come to believe that there really is a God and that He is good and loving! I mean, how can “science” be wrong? And believe me, when I question and doubt something, I do it like the best of them. When I have questions, there are literally hundreds and hundreds to be answered! So, I am speaking from personal experience on this subject.

The subject of science vs. the Bible is such a vast area that I can only highlight some of the key areas in this book; but know that there are many good and knowledgeable articles, studies, and research on this subject written by very competent, highly trained and respected Christian scientists and scholars who have studied mountains of evidence and data which show clearly that science has not disproven the Bible. Many scientists, who are also Christians, have studies and research that atheistic scientists (and their sponsoring institutions) just don’t like, want to hear, or want you to hear. So that information is suppressed (or ignored) in schools or discredited by atheistic groups, so the information can be harder to find.

There isn’t space here to refute all these theories of man, presented as scientific “facts,” but I encourage you to consult some of the reference materials listed at the end of this book. The website Q&A covers many of the most common stumbling blocks and false teachings of man in the area of science that cause disbelief.

DO YOU HAVE AN OPEN MIND?

To find the truth about this world, the universe, heaven, hell, eternity, your eternal soul, and God, are you:

1. Prepared to be open-minded and consider new information? Are you ready to objectively evaluate factual information and to consider that you have been lied to (and brainwashed) for so many years? Are you really open to considering that the biblical view on science and creation (and other matters) MAY indeed be accurate?
2. Willing to concede that there even is a God? The modern and so-called enlightened man thinks that his science is the final authority and basis for all understanding and justification, but that simply isn’t the case. Even the ancient Greeks, with all of their sophistication and knowledge, believed in a God; they just didn’t know “which” God, so the Apostle Paul pointed them in the correct direction: “So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I observe that you are very religious in all respects. For while I was passing through and examining the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ Therefore what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’ Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man. Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” – Acts 17:22-31
3. Willing to challenge what you hear? Are you simply accepting the word of man without challenging it? Do you believe anything you hear if it comes from someone dressed up in a nice and expensive suit with an intimidating title, or who has lots of important-sounding initials placed before or after their name? Or worse, are you accepting as truth what you read on social media and the Internet these days?

Yes, in large majority, people generally tend to simply accept almost anything they hear presented as “science” without doing due diligence and challenging it to see if it is actually true. This goes for Christians as well as anyone else. For example, Wayne Jackson, who has written for and edited the Christian Courier since its inception in 1965, writes this regarding the general public reaction to the “Jesus Bones” so-called “science” a few years ago: [1]

From the introduction, I remind you just how far the deceptions of man (and fake science) go – in fact, nearly everything today is fake:

But when you stop listening to the theories, myths, “traditions,” and fables of man and start to seek knowledge, wisdom, and truth from the Lord via His Word, then you will start to get real wisdom and knowledge; and you will be blessed with understanding and start to see the lies and deceptions of man clearly. Until you do that however, you will simply keep chasing more theories, myths, and fables of man. I know it sounds harsh reading that, but it’s the truth! That is why Scripture tells us “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge [and wisdom]” (Proverbs 1:7).

I must also confess to being gullible by formerly believing much of this fake science, but now I know the truth – and here is the important part: I no longer sit in ignorance believing the nonsense of man. I’ve seen the change in myself after realizing that man isn’t the ultimate authority on matters – the Lord is. And when you accept that God (not man) has truth, a light goes off, and you have a “wow, what I’ve been taught all my life isn’t so much proven by science after all” moment! You will then realize that on these essential matters, God is truth, and men are not. Are you ready to trust God’s wisdom on these essential and eternal matters, over man’s? It is written: “There is a way which seems right to a man [his notions, myths, theories, superstitions, opinions, traditions, etc.], but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 16:25) and “let God be found true, though every man be found a liar” (Romans 3:4). Only God and His Word and His Wisdom lead to life; trust in God’s holy Word.

GOD IS NOT A GOD OF CONFUSION

Now please don’t misunderstand what I’m saying in this chapter. God is not against science, only the “fake science” invented by man. Science in and of itself is good and was created by God; it is a fantastic tool which God gave us to enable us to better our condition and help humanity, when used for good. In fact, we even read that God created and designed this universe using logic, wisdom, reason and understanding:

The Bible tells us that wisdom, God’s wisdom, was around before the world existed, and it is by that very wisdom that He created this world we now live in. Yes, even the laws of nature were created from God’s wisdom:

Additionally, He upholds this very universe and all things in it by His Word, so it was God who created science in the first place! He created the things that we know today as the laws of mathematics, the laws of physics, the laws of thermodynamics, the laws of logic, etc., from His wisdom. So, God does not ask us to discard logic and reasoning when evaluating research and science, whether for or against the Bible. God gave us logic and reasoning to use wisely, but we must allow Him to direct us to truth. Are we ready to be led by God into truth, wisdom, and understanding? Are we humble enough to be taught and receive truth, even when we think we know better, and may even think we know more than God Himself?

The book of Job is most enlightening on this matter; I’ve included a few chapters from it in the verses at the end of the chapter. They show the Lord really laying it on Job thick and heavy and squarely putting him back in his place again for thinking he was wiser than God. The Lord showed him that it was He who created, ordered, and maintains all things, and notice that God used matters of creation and the physical and natural world as examples of His wisdom. While lengthy, it’s worth reading in its entirety.

And finally, after reading some of the materials I have suggested (I sincerely hope you do), you will see that there are many valid interpretations of “scientific data” which agree with the Bible. You will also find that there is a whole body of scientific knowledge and facts that have been kept hidden from you. You may be wondering why you haven’t heard or been taught any of this stuff in school? I’ll let you ponder the answer to that…but I now see that much of what secular science and textbooks and colleges taught me was just “theories” and even brainwashing, all designed to make God opaquer and harder to find.

Please realize that nearly all schools, colleges, and universities (and even seminaries!) are run and controlled by extremely liberal secular God-denying entities which are directly opposed to Christianity. The textbooks we are taught from are also under their control, being published by secular entities. Staggering! Astounding? …. Hard to believe? Impossible, you say? But that’s a true statement, and the facts are out there; you can easily look up the ownership of many of these institutions and review their board members.

I mentioned this earlier, but it bears repeating, so I want to close with it again: Do you know why they spend so much energy and effort to try to stop you from believing the very first sentences of the Bible? It is because they know that if you don’t believe the first sentence(s) of the Bible, you won’t believe or read the rest of it either. And make no mistake, the “they” are ungodly men who are under the control of Satan, the Devil, whether they like to think so or not, and they do not want to see you coming to God, and His Christ, and to eternal life. This is the front line in the spiritual battle for human souls.

So please do not judge matters (and God) and form beliefs based only on what you see today in this fallen world and by what you have been taught as “science.” See truth; seek God’s wisdom. This is why the Lord has given us the Bible – so we know the truth, even when it’s hard to see in this fallen world. The Bible transcends both space and time. It is God’s Holy Word, given to guide those who will listen. For God is before all, created all, in all, through all, for all, after all and above all things! Amen!

In the next chapter, we get back on track presenting the gospel message and learning more about why God cursed creation, which explains the fallen world we see around us today with sin, suffering, disease, and death.

And he does not stand still at the voice of the trumpet.
“As often as the trumpet sounds he says, ‘Aha!’
And he scents the battle from afar,
And the thunder of the captains and the war cry.

“Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars,
Stretching his wings toward the south?
“Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up
And makes his nest on high?
“On the cliff he dwells and lodges,
Upon the rocky crag, an inaccessible place.

“From there he spies out food;
His eyes see it from afar.
“His young ones also suck up blood;
And where the slain are, there is he.” – Job 39:1-30

Then the Lord said to Job,

Let him who reproves God answer it.”

Then Job answered the Lord and said,

“Behold, I am insignificant; what can I reply to You?

“Once I have spoken, and I will not answer;
