(The “A.D. 70 Doctrine,” “Realized Eschatology,” or Full/Radical Preterism)
This false teaching claims that all of the prophecy given in the book of Revelation (and indeed, the entire New Testament) was fulfilled in and by the year A.D. 70 with the destruction of Jerusalem – and that Christ returned at that time! They therefore falsely teach that there is no future return of Christ, ever. Frankly, it’s too lengthy to debate and refute this false teaching here. The reader is encouraged to seek truth. Please note that the Book of Revelation was written to Christians (the “bond-servants of Christ”), not to the Jews; the Jews had many prior OT writings and some of the NT writings (e.g., the first part of Matthew 24) to warn them, they didn’t need any more warnings.
This false teaching goes by several names (with slight variations) such as: Preterism, Radical Preterism, the “A.D. 70 Doctrine,” “Realized Eschatology,” etc., and has been around for a very long time. It seems to get reincarnated every few decades and given a shiny new name, so it all appears new again to the uninformed – but be not deceived.
